Interview With Australian Artist - Luke Jon Shearer

Just recently, we got a chance to briefly interview an Australian rock artist, who goes by the name of Luke Jon Shearer. Let's see what he had to say...

Muzique Magazine. Where are you from?
Luke Jon Shearer. I am from Newcastle in Australia but now reside in NYC.

Muzique Magazine. How do you feel about the present state of the music industry?
Luke Jon Shearer. I feel that the mainstream has now become about making money rather then talent which wasn't always the case and I think that is incredibly sad. However because of this change there is so much great indie music out there by true artists who know where they stand as far as mainstream goes and are therefore paving themselves very successful careers as indie artists.

Muzique Magazine. Today's music seem to be about collaborations with the "hottest" artist out. Who would you want to work with on a project? And why?
Luke Jon Shearer. I would love to collaborate with so many artists out there at the moment but if I am choosing one right now then I would love to collaborate with Mike Patton, And I would like to collaborate with him because he doesn't confine himself to one style of music, He is very diverse to changing style and since I am currently working on numerous projects of varying styles myself it would be awesome to work with him.

Muzique Magazine. Do you feel that you are an artist or entertainer?
Luke Jon Shearer. I am definitely not an entertainer. I write music solely for myself as a means to deal with things that are both negative and positive and for me my art is almost therapeutic for myself. If I can help just one other person get through something by listening to my music then I feel that I have achieved something special as an artist.

Muzique Magazine. What are you currently working on and how can people find you?
Luke Jon Shearer. I am currently working on a lot of stuff. New Luke Jon Shearer records including an album of covers by artists that have inspired me greatly. I have a project called Army Of Sleep which is ambient/instrumental music and I will be releasing it's first album in September. You can find out about all of my music works at www.lukejonshearer.com
